Russell
Perched on the edge of a sweeping valley, Russell gives you a front-row seat to the beauty of Exmoor and the South West. Wake up to panoramic views of alpine forests and rolling hills from the window or the outdoor firepit. With little to no signal, Russell offers a truly off-grid escape - the perfect spot to slow down, stargaze, and soak up nature at its finest.
From your cabin, you can watch the resident sheep graze and birds swoop through the valley. And when night falls, look up - Exmoor is a designated Dark Sky Reserve, so expect some of the clearest stargazing in the world.
Best explored with a car, you’ll find Exmoor National Park just 10 minutes away and the North Devon coast 30 minutes beyond, dotted with hidden coves and sandy beaches. And if you fancy something truly unique, England’s only off-grid pub, The Poltimore Arms, is just a 10-minute drive - no WiFi, no distractions, just great ale and good company... very on brand if you ask us!
Inside, you’ll find everything you need for a proper digital detox: a hot shower, gas hob, and all the kitchen essentials, plus a phone lockbox and instant camera for capturing those unplugged moments.
Dogs are very welcome at Russell, but please note the area around the cabin isn’t enclosed and there are free-roaming sheep and chickens nearby. For their safety - and the wildlife’s - dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. And since the resident farm dog (also named Russell!) is known to drop by for a friendly hello, this cabin may not be suitable for nervous or reactive dogs.

Loved where it was and Tess, the farm dog!
Loved the radio & tapes, coffee grinder, views, fire pit, location near beaches!
We loved the location, the view of the valley and woodland is stunning. We also loved the design of the cabin, having outside space to relax as well as inside with the fire was great - cosy but enough space so you don't feel cramped. Added bonuses & honourable mentions : Tess was our beloved companion (fell hard for that dogo), the hosts were kind and welcoming, as well as being very relaxed, especially with us exploring the property, which was quiet, inviting and felt calm.
The location was perfect and the cabin was beautiful. I was made to feel really welcome by the land owner. Which helped alleviate any anxiety I had about travelling alone. The view from the cabin windows was gorgeous. It was lovely to watch the sunrise from the bed in the morning.
Wonderfully peaceful and there were cute dogs!
Loved everything! I could happily have stayed there longer. The location was perfect - peaceful, beautiful views, birdsong, little trails to wander nearby, and of course dog Russell. I also liked knowing other humans were close-by as a solo female traveller. The cabin had everything I needed for my stay and was so comfortable. I slept so well and really didn't want to leave!
Loved the peace and quiet, and the full supply of kit at the cabin, covering all my basic needs and wants. :)
Even though it's unplugged, the quality of the accommodation, fixture and fittings is exceptional. Special mention for the bed which was super-comfortable and the shower. The location and view is spectacular. Extra points for the sheep who joined us regularly and most of all, for Russell himself; the best house tour guide ever!
Loved the fantastic location, well kitted out cabin, very quiet and peaceful!
Location was absolutely amazing, beautiful view from the cabin, horses and sheep in the fields next door, perfect location for a few days in Exmoor!
Loved everything. The location. The ease of it all. The quietness. The simplicity!
The landscape was absolutely incredible! Breathtaking views 😍
Loved the view, cabin and location!
Loved the cooking apparatus, procook knives , ninja pans etc! The natural beauty and the Polaroids!
Russell is so secluded and has the most breath taking view over the valley. A massive highlight for us was the steep but gorgeous walk down to the river from the cabin. The bed and bedding were so comfortable and cosy - the perfect spot for a freshly ground coffee! We loved the off grid feel, even the toilet made us feel truly disconnected from the world!!
Location was perfect, cabin was clean and well equipt. Doggo Russell was a very good boy
The comfort, the location, the peace, the walks, the check in and out. Loved the dark skies and shooting stars, total privacy and escape
Loved the location, fernham farm and the setting of this cabin are breathtaking. We loved the view from the cabin, the walks, the animals around the farm and how easy it was to take a trip to the coast and into Exmoor. We bumped into the farmer who owned the land who gave us excellent local recommendations and we had the most amazing and well- needed break from the city
