FAQs

You'll find the answer to all frequently asked questions here. If you can't find the answer to your question, drop us a message on Live Chat and we'll be able to help you.

We include everything you need for life offline. You'll find a phone lockbox, a shelf full of books, games to play, cassette player and an Instax camera with 10 free films.

We have a fully equipped kitchen to rustle up a storm in the kitchen, a hot shower in the bathroom with super soft towels and toiletries too. Plus we include all the firewood you'll need to stay warm in winter months.

You can find a full list of everything included in the cabin here

We have 15 locations, all 1-2 hours from London or Manchester. Whilst only being a short journey from city life, all our locations are nestled in nature. You can find a list of our locations here.

Our cabins are off-grid but not miles from civilisation, so you'll feel secluded during your stay but you're still able to venture out to nearby pubs for a pint or two and some shops if you forget any supplies. All cabins are reachable within 1-2 hours from London or Manchester.

Our cabins are powered by nature. They run entirely from solar power and are built with low carbon impact materials - including sheep's wool as insulation. Our cabins are built with the circular economy approach so the building can live many lives! We only include eco-friendly brands in the cabins and they're heated with your own log burner and fire wood.

Hell yeah, our cabins are. off-grid but built to be comfortable. All electric is powered by solar and you have a powerful hot shower with deliciously smelling shampoo and body wash.

We don't include traditional plug sockets, only USB charging points so you can still charge any devices before checking out.

All of our cabins offer the same experience as they have the same amenities and features but each location is slightly different. If you'd like us to help you choose a cabin, you can use our cabin recommendation form here

We do recommend you lock your phone away to get the most out of your escape, but this is totally self-policed. We provide you with the key in a sealed envelope so if you want to unlock it, you can.

That being said, we really do recommend spending 72 hours with no distractions, no annoying emails, and no social media scroll holes. Your brain and body will thank you!

All of our cabins have an old-school Nokia (yes the ones with Snake). So if you need to get in touch with us or a nearby pub you can. Plus you can share the Nokia number with friends and family before your escape so they can get in touch with you.

We include a map of the local area and a compass to help navigate. We also note all our favourite spots and pubs in the area.

Many of us haven’t switched our phones off for more than a few hours so it might feel a little strange to begin with. It will take about a 24 hours for the mind to settle when you first check in, then by day 2 and 3 your will feel complete freedom. You will leave the cabin feeling totally relaxed, refreshed and ready to return to the connected world.

We get it - "spanish or vanish". We're working on getting a partnership with Duolingo to try and get an offline version, but until then the best thing is to unlock your phone, continue your streak with Do No Disturb mode on (or apps deleted) and then phone straight back in the box.

A digital detox is a period of time when you intentionally take a break from your devices. All our cabins include a phone lockbox and everything you need to live offline.

Our devices are designed to be addictive, with over 50% of UK adults are clocking up 11 hours of screen time a day. High screen time keeps our brains busy and overstimulated which can damage our sleep quality, cognitive function and stress levels. A digital detox has many benefits and will reset your relationship with you phone.

Even just spending an hour in nature without your phone can reduced your cortisol (stress hormone) levels by 21%. Studies show that time offline and in nature:

  • Improves mental and physical health
  • Reduces stress, anxiety and depression
  • Improves sleep quality
  • Sharpens cognitive function, including memory
  • Improves focus and productivity
  • Strengthens human connection

Our cabins are designed around your digital detox and are fixed at 3 nights which is the optimal time for you to switch off and improve your digital dependancy.

➑️ More about that here

At Unplugged, we take a digital detox once a quarter to keep us focused and our screen time checked. We recommend taking at least one digital detox per year.

The cabins
Our cabins are built for a digital detox. We include everything you need to live offline: books, cassette player, games, map and an old school Nokia.

Locking your phone away
We provide you with a phone lockbox. When you arrive, let your friends and family know you'll be offline for a few days and share the cabin Nokia number with them. Take a few pictures and say goodbye to your notifications. Switch off your phone and lock it in the box. There is a lock and key that you use to padlock the box shut. If you need to unlock your phone during the 3 days, you can always rip the envelope to open the box, but we recommend leaving it in the box for the full 3 nights.

Yes! All our cabins are easily accessible by public transport within 1-2 hours from London and Manchester. You can travel by train and then you will need to book a short taxi ride to the cabin. Taxi rides are anything from 5-20 minutes and we will provide you with a list of local companies to book in advance.

Yes, every cabin has it's own designated parking spot to leave your car. You cannot drive right up to the cabin, but we give you a trolley to carry your things on 4 wheels.

All cabins are 1-2 hours from London or Manchester.

When you book your stay, we will send you a welcome guide with all the details of the cabin location. You will have the nearest address and then directions on finding your cabin on foot. It's really easy!

We've partnered with Turo, the world's largest car sharing marketplace, to make getting to your cabin as easy as possible. Unplugged guests receive an exclusive 15% discount which will be shared with you after booking.

We recommend not bringing much. Our cabins have everything you'd need for a super comfortable stay from all the cooking essentials you'd expect plus super soft towels and very nice smelling toiletries in the bathroom. So bring some food to rustle up, a good book (although we have plenty in the cabin), and a pair of walking shoes. For more details you can head here.

We make it as easy as possible to do a digital detox and provide you with a guide to help you prep for your stay. If you're travelling by public transport, we advise booking a taxi in advance. We will give you numbers of local taxi companies.

We also recommend prepping to go offline. Set your out of office, let your friends and family know you'll be offline for a few days and prep your phone by switching off notifications.

Check-in is 3pm and check-out is 10am (except Koya, which has check-in at 4pm and check-out at 11am).

We currently offer late check-out at Roland and Bunty. For Β£25 you can enjoy an extra two hours in bed. Just select the add-on during the checkout process.

We only ask you leave the cabin in the way you found it. If the cabin is left in an unacceptable condition, we sadly have to charge an extra cleaning fee.

At most of our cabins - absolutely. Even puppies need to switch off from chasing city pigeons. We absolutely love seeing your four-legged friends at our cabins, so much so we actually name our cabins after pups that have come to stay. Unfortunately, pups are not able to stay at Olive, Heidi or Roland due to roaming wildlife nearby.

Unfortunately our cabins are currently only really suitable for adults. Our special Scandi superloo is very specifically designed to work for adults only, so if you did want to bring a little one, they would need to be young enough to still be in nappies. It’s also worth noting we have not β€˜baby-proofed’ the cabin - the wood burning stove does get hot, the bed is quite high, and there are a few pointy edges to be wary of.

Right now all of our cabins sleep 2 people. If you're looking to stay with friends or a larger family, Gruff & Basil are in the same location so you'll be able to switch off together whilst still having your own private space when you need to.
